Poem: "Secret Places"

SECRET PLACES

There are secret places inside pencils
where words sit
with their letters folded up,
waiting to be found by a writer.
There are secret places
on the surface of white paper
where ideas sit like seeds
waiting for the warm weather and rain
a writer brings.
There are secret places in the air
where a writer’s words and a reader’s thoughts
can meet,
a special place
with chairs set out in the shade
for sitting and socializing.
