Passing cars
on the interstate
seemed like a little miracle,
like letting their lives go
and getting a good gift.
It was a small thing --
she simply stepped
on the accelerator
and then they sped along
like two stars in the sky
sailing along, shining
and passing other stars
with ease, like friends
giving the gift
of peacefulness
as they fly
along the interstate.
